Should You Download Registry Mechanic?

Read This Registry Mechanic Review Before Purchasing

Registry Mechanic 9.0 by PC Tools was the software scrutinized for in this registry cleaner review. It is the latest version of the software. If slow computer problems, freezes, or PC crashes are getting the best of you, a Registry Mechanic download is one of the best registry fix options to get your computer back on it's feet in a hurry.

This page contains both a "quick and "detailed" Registry Mechanic reviews. Choose your preference.

Quick Review:

Registry Mechanic was extremely responsive to our emails when we sent a "test" email to see their response time. This gives a good indication of how customers will be serviced if they have questions. PC Tools was one of the best companies of those tested for response time.

Ease of Use/Download:

Registry Mechanic 9.0 downloaded easily and did not take a aeronautical degree to understand. Scanning only took two minutes and the software seemed The process to scanning only took less than one minute. The software explained each feature and I could easily see this as a useful product for both novices and techies alike due to the customizable features.

Unique Features:

A unique feature of Registry Mechanic is the Registry Compacting feature in the registry optimize options in the user interface. This feature allows you to remove gaps in your registry and speed up PC performance after a quick computer restart.

Like Registry Easy, this software has more features for your money than most of the registry repair utility programs on the market. Between the monitoring characteristics (watching for registry changes) and the optimization tools, Registry Mechanic is a good choice for those wanting a large amount of tools for a mid level price tag.

Another unique feature of Registry Mechanic is having all the support tools right from a pull-down menu on the software interface. It gives the option of accessing a quick start guide (A-Z walk through), a support form (email), and the PC Tools website which has more resources.

Scanning/Repair Options:

Registry Mechanic exceeded all expectations of scanning categories including Software Locations, Registry Integrity, Windows Fonts, Help and Resources, Shared DLLs, Start Up Programs, Add/Remove Programs, Virtual Devices, File Extensions, Temp Files/Shortcuts, Custom Controls, and Deep Scan. Registry Mechanic surprised me with the number of features present.

Weakness:

After a detailed Registry Mechanic review, I could not find any major flaws. I am bothered by the lack of live help from many of the products but after experiencing the quick and professional responses by Registry Mechanic, coupled with the online and document-based support, my mind was put at ease.

Problems Fixed/Recommendation:

Registry Mechanic is one of my top three best registry fix solutions. Though Registry Mechanic found only 988 errors when competing products had found 1,000-2,500, the Windows registry errors that were vital were repaired. Registry Mechanic even fixed a DLL error that I have had on this particular PC for the past seven months upon system start up. This program is the only one I have run over time that fixed this error. After repairing the 988 errors detected, I ran two other PC registry fix programs and none of the previous errors were detected, which in my book is a great sign for Registry Mechanic 7.0 for the competitive price of $29.95 full version. Before obtaining the full version, it is best to click on the link below and ensure that a complete registry cleaner is needed based on errors found (if any).

The Registry Mechanic Review Process:

Initial Download

After choosing the free scan option at  www.registrymechanic.com the interface easily downloaded to my hard drive (see Registry Mechanic Screen print page for full visuals). The download and navigation of software interface were both simple to use. The software showed all of the available scanning options. Below is a list of the full scanning options available:

Available Scanning Options

Software Locations

Windows Fonts Help & Resources
Registry Integrity Shared DLLs Start Up Programs

Add/Remove Programs

Virtual Devices File Extensions
Temp Files/Shortcuts Custom Controls Deep Scan

As evident from the screen print in the linked page, the Registry Mechanic download will serve both novice and advanced users with choices of what scanning and repair options are desired. Most novice users prefer to just simply repair all detected errors.

A vital tool is the auto backup feature in Registry Mechanic which allows the user to return to a previous state if undesired results come from the repairs. This is a great security feature. All of the best cleaner products featured in this site have such a characteristic, so you will have peace of mind no matter which selection you make. When you download any Windows registry cleaner make sure that this feature is present.

Free Scan Process:

After completing the free Registry Mechanic download, the free scan detected 988 errors and confirmed that my computer was having registry problems and needed urgent repair. The Registry Mechanic initial scan took just 1 minute and 56 seconds. For the second scan to obtain a screen print, the process only took 1 minute and 25 seconds. The scan speed of any of the reviewed products is dependent upon the number of problems detected and the condition of the PC, so don't factor this into your buying decision.

Feel free to click around in the features in the interface (backups, IE Tools, Optimize System, and System Tools) to get a better understanding before purchasing the full version (if you need to fix registry errors). A simple overview of such features is included at the end of this Registry Easy review.

Scan Completion:

Upon the completion of scanning, Registry Mechanic offered a description of the errors detected and offered the option to keep the items for repair or remove them from the repair. This feature puts the user in control if they would like to be. Most people prefer to just let the software do its job and not worry about what is included. This is fine since there is appropriate backup tools.

Once the scan is complete, some surface errors in five sections can be repaired by the free software. These are not the errors most impacted by the need for a PC registry fix. If these errors are detected, it is easiest and fastest to just purchase the full version and resolve the issue.

Finalizing the Repairs:

After choosing the repair button on the lower right corner of the interface, the Registry Mechanic software instantly completes a registry repair and rids of the Windows Registry errors detected. See the screen print page for all snap shots of the process. As mentioned above, Registry Mechanic found 988 errors in my registry (not to mention the repairs by other tools for optimization).

After repairing these errors I ran two other PC registry fix programs and all errors were cleaned on the first round, which made me feel extremely confident about the effectiveness of this product. After restarting my PC I noticed immediately that an old DLL error was fixed and that my system had noticeable speed and performance increases. What a product! The Registry Mechanic had done the job.

Other Observations:

Though Registry Mechanic only has email support at registrymechanic.com I was a bit concerned that it could be days to get help if needed. Within a short time on all of my response tests, Registry Mechanic responded in a thorough and professional manner. I also printed off the online help guide and was surprised how easy it was to understand. You can rest easy with their support level.

Registry Mechanic 7.0 has some great new updates compared to previous versions. One is the system optimization tools in the software. Between being able to Defrag your system from the window and the ability to compress the registry itself for increased computer speed, Registry Mechanic makes it worth the money to try their product.

After completion of the Registry Mechanic download process, I set up the "monitoring" option for the registry which lets me know when new errors appear in my registry. It then gives an option to repair them. This is unique to other products.

So, Should You Try Registry Mechanic?

I give this product a thumbs up. After the extensive research on the product (not just reading other people's reviews), I found Registry Mechanic to be both simple and effective to use and not just about error detection, but actually able to repair the errors.

My Registry Mechanic review places Registry Mechanic as a top three pick of the products reviewed. It is advised that before you spend your money on a full version Registry Mechanic software, run the free scan to ensure that you have registry errors.
