Does RegCure Make the Grade?

This Complete RegCure Review Will Tell All

RegCure Free DownloadRegCure 1.5.0.0 by Pareto Logic Software is the version tested in this review, and is the most recent update of RegCure's Windows registry cleaner software. If your computer starts slow, , you have a slow computer speed, or you are tired of computer freezes, RegCure can fix corrupt registry files and get your PC performance back up to speed.

The RegCure reviews below include a "quick review" as well as a longer, detailed review.

Quick Review:

RegCure is one of the top names in the PC registry fix industry. Simply put, you can't go wrong ordering this product to do a Windows registry fix. RegCure, like Registry Easy, proved to be effective throughout the entire process of product use. Still, there are some strengths and weaknesses to consider.

Ease of Use/Download:

The RegCure user interface downloaded quickly and was extremely easy to use. Visit the additional screen print page attached to see how simple it is to download and to understand. The personalized scan option makes this product a good choice for either a novice or a "techie." This is the case with all of the software programs reviewed in this site, but is a vital attribute.

Unique Features:

One unique feature of RegCure was their extensive FAQ/knowledge base at regcure.com. There are also has a good range of setting choices in the user interface, which allows you to manage RegCure scans to your convenience.

Scanning/Repair Options:

RegCure has all of the major Windows registry cleaner scan areas needed of a proper registry fixer. This includes Com/Active X, Uninstall Entries, Font Entries, Shared DLLs, Application Paths, Help Files Information, Windows Startup Items, File/Path References, Program Shortcuts, Empty Registration Keys, and File Associations.

Weaknesses:

After a rigorous RegCure review, there aren't as many bells and whistles as Registry Easy. I also had a few challenges clearing the File/Path References errors on the first repair round. The second round did clear 100 percent of them.

Though I didn't need any support at all during the process, I did have support questions that came up twice. Neither time did I get response from the assigned ticket numbers during email support. I will chalk this up to it being the "Holiday Season" at the time of review. The product stood on its own without support help needed, yet this was a concern.

I would have also liked to see a few additional optimization tools like Registry Easy has, but this element isn't vital since this is meant to be a registry repair fix and not a system optimizer.

Problems Fixed/Recommendation:

RegCure is still one of my top three picks of the seven best registry cleaners reviewed. The best, in my opinion, is still Registry Easy. Originally, RegCure detected 1,696 errors in my system (shown in the Detailed Review). After repairing these errors I ran two other PC registry fix programs and only 41 File/Path Reference errors were detected, which overall gives me a good feeling about the effectiveness of this product. RegCure is competitively priced for their full version at $29.99 for a one year license.  Before purchasing the full version of RegCure, take the time to do the free scan to save money in case you don't have any errors found. The link below will take you to the free scan.

Detailed Review

This review was completed on RegCure 1.5.0.0 (latest version and require hard drive space of 6.4 MB). The www.regcure.com website offers a full feature listing for their current software in addition to the review done here on the major vital features.

Windows Operation Systems RegCure Services:

  • Windows Vista

  • Windows XP

  • Windows 2000

  • Windows ME

  • Windows 98

The RegCure Review Process:

Initial Download

After choosing the free scan option at  www.regcure.com the interface in the screen prints attached downloaded to my hard drive. The download and navigating the user interface were both extremely easy. The user interface that loaded showed all of the available scanning options. The following were the main categories scanned:

Available Scanning Options

Com/Active X

Application Paths Help Files Information
Uninstall Entries Windows Startup Items File Associations

Font Entries

File/Path References Program Shortcuts
Shared DLLs Empty Registration Keys

Any/All of the Above

As evident from the screen print page, the Regcure download will serve either a novice or advanced user since the interface allows a choice of checking files the user wants repaired. Most novice users simply repair all files.

One of the other vital tools is the "backups" feature which will automatically back up files in the system prior to repair so a user can return to the prior condition if need be. This is a great security feature. All of the best cleaner products in this site have such attributes, so this feature is a given but is still one to understand and utilize once you download a Windows registry cleaner.

Free Scan Process:

The free scan indeed confirmed that my computer was having registry problems and desperately needed repair. The scan found 1,696 problems and took just 3 minutes and 10 seconds to run a first scan and only 1 minute and 47 seconds to run a second time for a screen print. The speed of scans can be dependent upon the number of errors to be fixed and the condition of the PC, so don't factor this into your buying decision. Many reviews list this as vital, but it is nonsense.

It is best to click around in the free user interface to see how comfortable you are before making a purchase of the full version. There is a nice mouse-over feature in the RegCure interface that gives a description of each scan category offered. You just hold the cursor over the category listed and a description will pop up and explain what the cause of this error category and the symptoms attached.

Scan Completion:

Once the scan was complete, RegCure gave me a description of the problems detected (see screen print page) and gave the option through  checked boxes if I wanted to repair each problem or just selected ones. It is nice having a choice of scan repairs because this keeps the software from becoming over-assumptive and creating additional problems. Even if the software does repair/delete too many entries, there is always a backup to keep you secure. Novices do not need to worry about this "choice" feature. This is meant for "techies" that truly understand how to fix corrupt registry files individually. Novices need not be concerned though as the software if designed to repair the basic system (though some critics will disagree about which files need to be repaired).

Some of the surface errors found can be repaired by the free software, but these are not the errors that are the most impacted by the need for a PC registry fix.

Finalizing the Repairs:

After choosing the repair button (shown in screen print page), the RegCure software goes to work repairing the Windows Registry errors detected. When finished, the confirmation screen shows each file of each successful registry error repair. As mentioned above, RegCure found 1,696 errors in my system.

After repairing the mentioned errors I decided to run two other PC registry fix programs and only 41 File/Path Reference category errors were detected, which shows a good overall effectiveness of this product. After this detection, I did another RegCure scan and detected the same errors and fixed them.

Other Observations:

RegCure only has email support and unfortunately is not the best in responding to issued ticket numbers (case numbers assigned to you). I need to be fair, however, because no support was ever needed in my entire experience with RegCure. Also, they have extensive help databases online so that you can "serve yourself." Yet, it would be good to have a more responsive staff at Pareto Software.

A unique feature of the RegCure website is a video presentation on RegCure. Go to the site, choose the Support link at the top right, and go to the Products tab at the top. Choose the RegCure "more information" button below and download the video.

So, Should You Try RegCure?

I would advise use of this product. Registry Easy is still my first pick but RegCure is a safe bet and does the job. It is easy to use and effective. You will definitely get your money's worth. I do, however, advise you to run the free scan before purchasing the full version. This will ensure that you have legitimate registry errors.
